Berlin: day one

Today we visited three museums: an art museum, a musical instrument museum, and an arts and crafts museum. I think that the musical instruments museum was my favorite. Here you see a vertical piano - one of several there. They also had a Wurlitzer, and someone played it while we were there. Fantastic!

The other museums were much larger and we spent several hours at them. It takes a long time to upload photos so I will not do that right now. By the end of the day both of us had sore feet! Karen is getting along pretty well and the weather is not really a factor. Today was partly cloudy, cold and windy. But no rain.

On the way back home from the museums we stopped at the Sony center - a very interesting piece of architecture. The picture you see here is of the roof. There is a four-story Sony Style Store there with everything that Sony makes.

Tonight we are going to the Berlin Philharmonic. And I need to get going... See you tomorrow.

  • Teena and I are enjoying your progress reports! How many steps today!?

Hope your weather is good...a little chilly here and rain yesterday, but spring wants to emerge.

When are you off to Prague?

    Take care and stay healthy.

    Love,

    Teena and Steve

  • The Berlin Philharmonic is one of the best in the world. Agreat opportunity for you guys.

It sounds like it lived up to evry expectation.

Well....we're just doing boring things here in Salem as you cavort around Europe.

But, we did have a great time at Novak's, the Hungarian restaurant in Albany. Lois, Keith, Ryuji, Karen, Pat and Ben and Ed and Christy joined us. Delicious foor and scrumptious desserts. But, probably only a weak facsimile of the real stuff you are enjoying!

    Love,

    Steve and Teena
